Cottrell Resort has a very active Ladies’ Section which currently comprises around 100 friendly and enthusiastic members, across a range of handicap levels, many of whom participate in ladies’ competitions. We provide a good mix of social and competitive golf to meet the requirements of ladies of all abilities.

COMPETITIONS
The Ladies’ main competition day is a Thursday when we have reserved tee times which can be booked via the online booking system or through the pro shop. Working ladies are an integral part of our Ladies’ Section and we try to accommodate their golfing needs wherever possible by having alternative arrangements to play on Saturdays for many of the competitions. Their scores are then amalgamated with the Thursday scores to determine the overall winners.
There is a full annual program of active qualifying competitions including those where we compete for a wide range of cups, trophies and shields. There is a good mix of social and fun competitions too. Provision is made for ladies to maintain their handicap through regular 9-hole and 18-hole qualifying competitions. Competitions are a mixture of both handicap qualifying competitions and non-qualifying competitions.
Several individual and pairs knockout competitions are organised both in the summer and winter and provide further playing opportunities.
Our Ladies’ Open Competition is held each year in July and we have a Members and Guests Competition in August, both are open to members and visitors.
NEW2GOLF SCHEME
As part of the Wales Golf New2Golf scheme, Cottrell Resort are proud to be a participating golf club supporting this exciting initiative in helping ladies wishing to learn to play golf. Starting with the fundamentals of the game which are taught by our very own PGA Professional, Gareth, the ladies will progress through the coaching scheme providing a great introduction to the game. They then have the opportunity to join our section on full membership where they are given the support of our buddy system which allows them to integrate into the ladies’ section.
TEAMS
We have two teams representing the club in the County leagues. Places in these teams are allocated strictly by handicap.
We participate in friendly matches against other golf clubs in the region, fostering friendly competition and building relationships with local clubs (Brynhill, Wenvoe, Cardiff and Coed-y-Mwstwr) All ladies are invited to participate in these matches.
This year we have entered two teams in the Welsh Handicap Team Championships and also a team in the Academia Golf Club Classic which is a UK National Golf Club Team Competition.
SOCIAL
We also arrange a variety of social and charity events throughout the year.
We also organise trips to other golf courses, an Away Day in June and a one or two-night stay for our Away Days in August.
The Resort has 3 Golf Simulators which can be booked on-line or in the pro-shop together with an indoor putting area.
