We welcomed over 220 golfers to Cottrell Resort for our annual Seniors Open Day. With players enjoying both the Mackintosh Course and Button Gwinnett Course, it was fantastic to see so many visitors and members taking part in another successful event. Our halfway house kept everyone refreshed throughout the day, while the putting competition provided some extra fun and friendly competition off the course.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, along with our staff and volunteers who helped make the day such a success.

Did you know that one of our golf courses at Cottrell Resort is named after a man who literally signed the American Declaration of Independence?

The 4th July marks America’s landmark 250th Independence Day, and we’re looking back at an incredible piece of our own heritage.

Before he became a founding father, Button Gwinnett grew up right here on the Cottrell estate. His family lived on this land from 1755 (inherited from the Button family) until 1807. Button was the third of seven children and the first to venture across the Atlantic.

He emigrated to America with his family, went on to represent Georgia at the Continental Congress, and put his name on the most important document in American history.

From a childhood on the Cottrell estate to shaping the modern world—talk about a legacy!

Men’s Captain Martin Andrews, Ladies’ Captain Tina Moss and Seniors’ Captain Rob McAndrew held an extremely successful Captain’s Day on Saturday 11th July, with over 200 members taking part on the Mackintosh Course.

Our Halfway house is fast becoming “The Talk of South Wales” as players were once again greeted with a BBQ, cooked by our Captains and Vice Captains.

An incredible £2500 was raised on the day for this year’s Captain’s Charities Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice Arthritis UK and The British Heart Foundation

We are incredibly lucky to have such a hardworking greenkeeping team here at Cottrell Resort.
