Ladies Open Day 2025
Our wonderful Ladies Section hosted their Open Day yesterday and what beautiful weather we had for it!
We had over 110 ladies play and our lovely ladies ensured they were all well fed and refreshed with their gorgeous homemade cakes and Pimms!
HOLE IN ONE!
Huge congratulations to Gareth Gambling on his incredible hole-in-one today on the 9th hole on the Button Course — and what a day for it, with the sun shining over a glorious Cottrell Resort! Gareth is a founder member and has been part of our family for 29 years — what a way to mark nearly three decades of dedication.
Captains Day 2025!
Men’s Captain Gareth Dawkins, Ladies’ Captain Freda Emery and Seniors’ Captain Mike Miburn held an extremely successful Captain’s Day on Saturday 12th July, with over 180 members taking part on the Mackintosh Course.
Our Halfway house is fast becoming “The Talk of South Wales” as players were once again greeted with a BBQ, cooked by our Captains and Vice Captains.
An incredible £633 was raised on the day for this year’s Captain’s Charities Dementia UK, Cancer Research Wales, and Prostate Cancer UK.
Well done to all the players and volunteers and thank you to all who donated!
SENIORS OPEN DAY 2025
On Wednesday 16th July, we saw the return of our Seniors Open Day, where we had the pleasure of hosting over 260 attendees (both Visitors and Members), possibly the largest Seniors Open Day in the UK.
Our seniors hosted on both the Mackintosh Course and Button Gwinnett Course, with a halfway house to keep our guests refreshed.
They also entertained a putting competition, which was a great hit with all involved. Congratulations on a fantastic Open Day
TEAM CHALLENGE
On Saturday 19th July 2025, we saw the return of our Annual Team Challenge, where groups within the membership compete against each other.
Again this year, we had four incredible teams, made up of 12 players, who took part in this challenge. The teams included the Tuesday Boys, the Thirsty Boys, the Bankers and the Devils Crew.
After some fantastic matches, the team challenge was won by the Thirsty Boys, led by their Captain Stewart Hunt.
A great day out was had by all and we look forward to next year where I’m sure the other teams will want some vengeance.Congratulations to the Thirsty Boys!
