Cottrell Park Golf Resort’s Professional Golfer, Gareth Bennett, completed an incredible 122 holes, all in aid of On Course Foundation.

On Thursday 29^th July, at 5:15am, professional golfer Gareth Bennett started his incredible 122-hole golf challenge. Gareth, who is naturally left-handed, alternated playing left and right-handed throughout his challenge on both our Button and Mackintosh Golf Courses.

Gareth completed this challenge in aid of our Captains Charity, which this year is, Oncourse Foundation. Oncourse Foundation is the UK’s only golf specific military charity, who use the game of golf as a vehicle for successful recovery to all its beneficiaries.

Gareth explained why he took on the challenge and how he felt.  “I wanted to do this challenge to raise money for the captain’s charity, who’s charity is military based and so I decided to play golf left-handed, and then right-handed, alternating each shot. I did this to simulate the left right march in the military. I felt very tired coming down the last hole, but the Members support on the last few holes was incredible, as well as the Captain, Gareth Dummett, who walked the last 36 holes with me.  The total score was +53 for 122 holes”.

A fantastic £1200 was raised for the charity, so a huge thank you to all those who donated.
